Easy - The Sentry is a new type of inspection instrument for the metrology lab or the production floor. Meant to take the place of a traditional optical comparator, the Sentry uses an 8 mega- pixel CCD coupled with precision telecentric optics LED illumination to obtain the most highly detailed and accurate image possible.
Fast - One of the great things about the optical comparator is that you can often use go/no-go overlay charts to make an extremely fast inspection on the form or dimension of a part. Video systems to this point have not been able to do this as the traditional video camera can only look at a small section of a part at once. But the Sentry can look at a part 50mm long and measure dimensions to a precision of 3 1/2 microns.
Real Data - The overlay chart used on a traditional comparator is fast, but all it tells you is pass or fail. The Sentry is just as fast but it gives you actual data. The Sentry can make complete dimensional tolerance and form measurements. Form measurements include actual minimum and maximal deviations from nominal form as well as statistical analysis of form conformance.
Value and Versatility - For smaller parts that can fit within a 100mm field-of-view, the Sentry provides the fastest most cost-effective means to obtain precision measurements. One instrument - two Configurations. The Sentry can be placed upright on your workbench with a vertical transmitted light stage, or by tilting it on its back and removing the vertical stage you can use your Sentry in a horizontal mode for larger heavier parts.
